Can I get a backdated sick cert?

GPs can only certify illness from the date of consultation onwards. If you've been ill for several days, the GP can note this in the certificate, but the official certification date will be the consultation date.

The certificate includes your name, the date(s) of illness, a statement that you are/were unfit for work, the GP's name and IMC registration number, the practice details, and the date of issue.
